Fiona Guihen ready for Ras na mBan

Best of luck to Navan RC member Fiona Guihen, who is in the final preparations for her next challenge……Ras na mBan 2012. Fiona was selected for the Irish under-23 squad last month for the European Championships in Holland, and has gained some valuable experience. Unfortunately the race in Holland didn’t quite go to plan with a mixture of punctures, crashes, and just bad luck! So i know Fiona is hoping for better luck this time around.

However she has obviously made an impression with the Irish coaching staff. Fiona has now been picked to race as part of another Irish team for the An Post Ras na mBan, which takes place around the beautiful but grueling roads of Kerry. Based in Sneem the race has a total of 6 stages in 5 days, and with a star studded field of riders from all over Europe there’s no doubt it will be tough.

2012 has been a very enjoyable year for Fiona,  with another highlight being a great ride in the Irish national Championships in Clonmel. Perhaps womens cycling doesn’t get the profile nationally that it deserves, but we here in Navan Road Club are very proud of Fiona’s achievements and wish her continued success.
