Bike Week 2012


17th June – ‘Cycle for All’ beginners and regular cyclists of all ages are welcome. Meeting at Teach na Teamhrach,(Trim road) 10:15am. Experienced club cyclist will co-ordinate this fun and inclusive cycle, with the emphasis on participation and enjoyment.

18th June – Cannistown National School 6:15pm. An introduction to cycling for children from 5 years upwards. A qualified team of coaches led by John Nolan introduces young people to cycling. They are streamed into 3/4 different groups, and are instructed on the basics of road cycling, cycling skills, cycling etiquette, and bike handling skills, all done in a friendly and fun envoiroment. Parents are welcome to participate in this family themed night.

19th June – Retail Park, Athboy road 7pm. ‘An introduction to Racing Cycling’ for those who want to try something different. Races are less than 20 miles, and cyclists of all abilities are catered for through a well evolved handicap system that allows both beginners and experienced competitors test each other, but all in a safe and fun format. Non Cycling Ireland cyclist must sign-on for insurance purposes, but everyone is welcome.

20th June – Navan Cycle Centre, Fair Green at 6pm. ‘Bike maintenance and safety night’. Club members along with Thomas McElroy of Navan Cycle Centre will give a demonstration on bike maintenance and tips on how to keep your bike functioning safely and efficiently. This is well worth an hour of your time in order to make the best use of your cycling equipment.

21st June – Teach na Teamhrach 7:15pm. All are welcome to this training night that caters for different groups and abilities. Everyone from new entrants to experienced racers meet up to swap tales and go training in whatever group they feel comfortable with. Distances vary from 20—60km with group leaders keeping an eye on things, and controlling the pace.

24th June – Teach na Teamhrach 10:15am. Leisure cycling is the theme with this breezy 40-60km cycle through the countryside available to all, under the expert guidance of Larry Clarke.
